Our Story

Smoky Lake Cabinets began in 2011 with a small workshop and an idea: put the skills and equipment already available at Smoky Lake Hutterite Colony to work building cabinetry for others.

Our first orders came from fellow Hutterite colonies. As we invested in more modern equipment, an equipment supplier encouraged us to look beyond those communities. He saw strong demand for cabinetry in Alberta—and an opportunity for our workshop to grow.

By 2012, that growth was well underway. We expanded our equipment, introduced new production methods, and developed more structured project management. What began with small orders grew into a business capable of supplying large multifamily developments and custom homes.

Today, Smoky Lake Cabinets has grown into one of Alberta’s major cabinetry manufacturers, serving projects across the province and beyond. We also continue to build for the colonies that gave us our start.

Our production remains at Smoky Lake Hutterite Colony. Our team brings together colony members, people from the local community, and colleagues working remotely in Edmonton and Calgary. Each contributes experience and care to the work we deliver.

Behind every project are clear production plans and experienced people at every stage. We guide our clients from the first idea through to the finished cabinetry in their space, bringing design, manufacturing, and project coordination together.

We are proud of how far we have come—and of the people who continue to move us forward.
